Luctocel® is a sodium salt of carboxymethyl ether of cellulose, an anionic compound derived from cellulose. It is a fine to coarse hygroscopic powder that is white to slightly yellowish in colour, nearly odourless and tasteless. Soluble in water, Luctocel® acts as a thickener, binder, stabilizer, suspending agent, and rheology modifier. Its solutions exhibit non-Newtonian, pseudoplastic behaviour and are suitable for a range of technical applications.
